Dear All,

During May we shared Ascension and Pentecost key festivals in our annual church calendar. The liturgical colour has now turned to green as we enter the season of ordinary time.
The beginning of Ordinary time for the united Benefice however signals a number of extraordinary happenings!

Welcome to June 2013 and what a month it is going to be:

1st June
7pm at All Saints Hawton will witness a Jazz concert. Tickets available from RST Music Newark or Anne Et Vin £13.00 in advance or £15per person on the door – includes refreshments – Kids free

29th June
An Open Day at St. Lawrence Thorpe especially for the folks at Thorpe. All welcome.

30th June
Garden Party for the United Benefice at the Rectory on Marsh Lane 1.00pm lunch and 3pm worship for all led by the Salvation Army Band.

You will see these events advertised elsewhere in this booklet. I mention them because they are individually important and in every case they are positive signs of active church life, engagement and growth. A good deal of hard work will have been done by church members to ensure successful outcomes for all the events. It would be grand if they could be well supported.

Pentecost is an annual celebration of the arrival of the Holy Spirit, the comforter, the final divine gift. Pentecost Sunday is often referred to as the birthday of the church. Our gatherings are part I believe of that on-going party.
Yours in Christ
